ShalevaPrep
Privacy, Terms & Refunds
Last updated 24 August 2026
ShalevaPrep is run by Nestor Shaleva ("we", "us"), a sole proprietor (eenmanszaak) based in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Contact: nestor.shaleva@gmail.com. ShalevaPrep is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to Maastricht University or any of its instructors.
1. What we store, and where
- Your study progress (flashcard ratings, quiz history, readiness scores, mock-exam results, and settings) is saved in your browser's localStorage on your device. If you sign in with an email account for cross-device sync (see the next bullet), a copy is also stored in our database so your progress follows you between devices; if you use an access code without signing in, your progress stays on your device only and we can't see it. Clearing your browser data deletes the local copy — the hub offers a progress export for backups.
- Payments are processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe shares with us your email address and payment status, which we use to issue your access code, respond to support requests, and (rarely) send you information relevant to your purchase, such as resit access. No marketing lists, no spam.
- Access codes are stored server-side linked to your Stripe payment so you can recover access.
- AI explanations: when you tap "explain" on a quiz question, the question and your answer choice are sent to our server and processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate the explanation. No account or personal data is attached to these requests, though our infrastructure providers (Netlify) log IP addresses for abuse prevention.
- We use no advertising trackers and no cookies at all. Fonts and our own scripts are served from our own domain. For visitor statistics we use Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that uses no cookies and collects no personal data — it tells us overall site usage (like how many people visit and which pages they use), never who you are.
- Your account & synced progress. When you sign in with an email account for cross-device sync, we store your email address (which is your login), your name and exam date, and your study progress — flashcard ratings, quiz history, readiness scores, and per-topic activity — in our database, hosted in the EU (Stockholm, Sweden) by Supabase, which acts as our data processor and also provides the login/authentication. You can export your data at any time from the hub.
- Login emails. Your magic sign-in links are delivered by Brevo, our transactional email provider, acting as our data processor. We share only your email address with Brevo to send these links — no marketing.
- Feedback and ratings. If you use the "Report an issue" button or answer the occasional rating prompt, we store what you wrote, your rating, and — only if you ticked the consent box — the display name you chose to be credited with. See Feedback & testimonials below for how quotes are used.
2. Data retention & your rights
Your account and synced study data are kept while your account is active. Your purchase record (email and access code) is retained so you can recover access to what you bought.
Under the GDPR you can ask us at any time to show, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you. You can export your full progress from the hub whenever you like (this doubles as data portability). To delete your account and all synced data, email nestor.shaleva@gmail.com — we remove it, including from Supabase, within 30 days.
3. Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Nestor Shaleva, trading as ShalevaPrep. By purchasing access or using the ShalevaPrep hub, you agree to them. They're written in plain language on purpose — there's no fine print hiding anywhere else.
Nothing in these terms limits or removes any right you have as a consumer under Dutch or EU law that cannot legally be limited or removed. If any part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies.
3.1 Your access — personal use only
- Your purchase gives you personally lifetime access to the ShalevaPrep QM1 hub — meaning access for the operating life of the product, on any of your own devices. It is a personal, non-transferable license, not a good you can pass on.
- Don't share your access code or login with other students, and don't post it anywhere. One purchase covers one student. If a friend finds ShalevaPrep useful, the fair move is that they buy their own access — it's what keeps this affordable.
- Also not allowed: copying, scraping, or bulk-downloading the content; republishing or reselling any of it; trying to bypass the access gate or reverse-engineer the service; or abusing the AI explain feature (for example, hammering it with automated requests — it has rate limits, and they're there so it stays available for everyone).
- If access is clearly being shared or the rules above are seriously or repeatedly broken, we may suspend or end access. For anything that looks like an honest mistake, we'll contact you first. Suspension for genuine abuse doesn't create a right to a refund, but your statutory consumer rights are never affected.
- Age. You need to be legally able to enter this agreement. If you're under 18, Dutch law generally treats a small everyday purchase like this as one a minor may make with parental permission (which the law presumes for normal purchases of this size) — but if you're unsure, ask a parent or guardian before buying.
- Availability. We run ShalevaPrep as a small independent service and aim for it to be there whenever you study, but we can't promise uninterrupted, error-free availability — brief outages (ours or our hosting providers') can happen, especially around updates.
3.2 A study aid — not a guarantee of results
ShalevaPrep is a study aid. It is not a guarantee that you will pass QM1 or achieve any particular grade.
ShalevaPrep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to Maastricht University, its School of Business and Economics, or any course coordinator or instructor. It is an independent product made by a student who took the course.
- The content is prepared with genuine care and cross-checked against course materials, but we cannot guarantee it perfectly matches every future exam, every professor's specific emphasis, or every change to the syllabus. Courses evolve; exams vary.
- You remain responsible for your own exam preparation — attending your course, checking the official course requirements and materials, and knowing what your exam actually covers. ShalevaPrep supplements that work; it doesn't replace it.
- Any grades, pass rates, or results mentioned in our marketing describe past experience and are not a promise about your outcome.
3.3 Content accuracy
- Every flashcard, quiz question, summary, and cheat sheet is written and human-reviewed with real effort toward accuracy, cross-referenced against official course materials where available.
- Even so, no content is guaranteed error-free. If something looks wrong, please tell us via the "Report an issue" button in the hub (or the rating prompt, or email) — fixes ship fast, and reports genuinely improve the product for everyone. For anything exam-critical, cross-check against your official course materials.
- AI explanations (the "explain" feature) are generated live by an AI model. They're usually helpful, but AI can be confidently wrong — treat them as a study companion's take, not an official answer key.
3.4 Limitation of liability
- Our total liability for any claim connected to ShalevaPrep is limited to the amount you actually paid for your access.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages — for example, a failed exam or resit, lost tuition or scholarship money, study delay, delayed graduation, or lost income. (Section 3.2 is the honest version of why: a study aid cannot carry responsibility for your exam outcome.)
- We are not liable for failures of the third-party services we build on — Stripe (payments), Supabase (accounts/sync), Brevo (login emails), Netlify (hosting), or Anthropic (AI explanations) — where the failure is outside our reasonable control. If an outage on our side meaningfully locks you out during your prep, contact us and we'll make it right within reason.
- Honest limit of these limits: nothing here excludes or limits liability where Dutch or EU law does not allow it — for example, damage caused by our intent or deliberate recklessness, or your statutory consumer rights (such as the right to a product that works as agreed). Liability can be reasonably limited, not eliminated; this section does the first, not the second.
3.5 Intellectual property
- All ShalevaPrep content — flashcards, quiz questions and explanations, summaries, cheat sheets, the study-plan structure, and the software itself — is the property of ShalevaPrep (Nestor Shaleva).
- The content is our own original formulation: independently written explanations, questions, and summaries covering the publicly known QM1 curriculum. It is not a copy of any textbook, lecture slides, or other copyrighted course material.
- Your license is for personal study only. Redistributing, reselling, scraping, publicly posting, or sharing the content (including feeding it into shared documents or file dumps for other students) is not allowed.
- Personal notes you make from your own studying are, of course, yours.
3.6 Feedback & testimonials
- Feedback you send — issue reports, rating-prompt answers, emails — is used to improve the product. By default it stays private and internal.
- The rating prompt has an optional consent checkbox. Only if you tick it may we quote your comment in ShalevaPrep marketing (for example on the landing page), credited exactly the way you typed it — e.g. first name and programme, like "Emma, EBE Year 1". Never your full name, never your email.
- You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us; we'll remove the quote from future use of our materials.
- How feedback data is stored is covered in the privacy section above.
3.7 Payment, price & withdrawal
- Access is a one-time payment at the price shown at checkout — no subscription, no recurring charges. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe; we never see your card details.
- As an EU consumer you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal on digital purchases. Because ShalevaPrep delivers full access immediately, Stripe asks you at checkout to expressly consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that this ends the statutory withdrawal right for delivered digital content.
- Separately from that legal position, our own refund policy still gives you 14 days, no questions asked — see Refunds below. The refund policy is the floor we hold ourselves to, whatever the withdrawal-right formalities say.
3.8 Governing law & disputes
- These terms are governed by Dutch law. If you live in another EU country, any mandatory consumer protections of your home country still apply to you.
- If something's wrong, email us first: nestor.shaleva@gmail.com. Almost everything — refunds, access problems, content complaints — gets resolved this way within days. Give us 30 days to sort it out informally.
- If we genuinely can't resolve it, disputes go to the competent Dutch court. If you're a consumer, you may also be able to bring the claim in the courts of the EU country where you live. There is no forced arbitration in these terms.
3.9 Changes to these terms
- We may update these terms — for example when the product gains features. For meaningful changes we'll give reasonable notice: a note in the hub, and by email if we have your address.
- Continuing to use ShalevaPrep after a change takes effect counts as accepting it. Changes never retroactively reduce the rights attached to a purchase you already made.
- The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always tells you when the terms last changed.
4. Refunds & your right of withdrawal
As an EU consumer you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal on digital purchases. Because ShalevaPrep gives you immediate full access, Stripe asks you at checkout to consent to immediate delivery — but we honour the spirit of the rule anyway:
Not useful? Email nestor.shaleva@gmail.com within 14 days of purchase and you get a full refund. No forms, no questions. Refunds are returned to your original payment method via Stripe.
